Doune Castle

Here it is folks, the castle used to film the famed 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail'. The castle was mainly used as a 'royal retreat' from stately affairs, it didn't come close to the glamour of Stirling or Edinburgh castle, but was grand in its own way. It is one of the very few castles that is one design, many castles have been knocked down and rebuilt or redesigned many times over the centuries, this one is basically the same as it was back in the 1400's. Incredible. And Monty Python was filmed here, so very incredible:)

People must have been small back then.

A fireplace. This room was used to film a number of scenes from Monty Python. In each of the rooms you could hear a clip of the movie that was filmed there. Very humorous tour.

One of the best medieval castles we have seen, you are able to access most of the rooms, and the long spiral staircase is open from top to bottom, and it is long, you are dizzy by the time you get to the end of it.

And for the CCC crew....
